Due to her powers, Wonder Woman has always been seen as more of an equal to Superman than other DC characters. But Greg Rucka, currently writing the wonderful Lois Lane max-series, and J.G. Jonesís explorations of her relationship to Batman prove to be even more compelling.
The Hiketeia refers to a sacred ritual of supplication and protection. A young girl named Danielle becomes Wonder Womanís ward after escaping the sex traffickers who had enslaved her. But the only way she could escape was by killing them. Of course, that runs counter to Batmanís philosophy about justice and sets him and Diana on a crash course.
This story is a great rumination on the intersection of morality and justice, a must-read for fans of any of Ruckaís work, and this key splash page is a shocking turning point in the relationship between both of these two beloved characters. A truly important piece of Wonder Woman and Batman history!
