The 1st issue of Future State #1 sold out in 2 days. Fans who read it on day 1, were blown away at the incredible writing abilities of writer Ram V, and word of mouth spread so quickly that comic shops immediately called distributors and bought all the remaining copies. With this incredible and instantly iconic looking image on the cover, it shouldn't be a surprise, as there was a lot of buzz about it online ever since DC released it publicly. For whatever it may be worth, I want to mention that I originally wasn't excited when Perkins told me he'd be working on Swamp Thing. While I was happy to see him do it because I knew his style meshed perfectly with the textures and atmosphere of Swamp Thing's world, I just hadn't been interested in reading the character since the Rick Veitch days which followed the Alan Moore run. But after reading Future State, I'm not only converted, but I honestly haven't enjoyed a Swamp Thing comic as much as I did this one, since the 2nd year of Moore's run. Ram V. and Perkins have made me fall in love with Swamp Thing all over again, and I hope anyone reading this gives the book a try, it'll be worth your while!
